THE bests in the league will display their wares in the first 90th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East against West All-Stars Game today at the San Juan Arena in San Juan City.
Spicing up the one-day activity is the slam-dunk competition and a three-point shootout at 1 p.m. while the Ms. NCAA 2014 contest will usher the event at 10:30 a.m. The East-West game is set at 2:30 p.m.
NCAA Management Committee chairman Paul Supan is host Jose Rizal University said that part of the proceeds in the event will be donated to the orphan children of Hospicio de San Jose. He said they will be bringing in about 20 kids from Hospicio to watch the East-West game.
The East All-Stars will be composed of selected players from San Beda College Red Lions, University of Perpetual Help Altas, Arellano University Chiefs, San Sebastian College Stags and Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers while in the West All-Stars are College St. Benilde Blazers, Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, Letran Knights, Mapua Cardinals and Lyceum Pirates.
”We’ll have kids from Hospicio de San Jose as guests and beneficiary. Portions of proceeds will also go to NCAA players in the national team and the NCAA personnel assistance fund,” said Supan.
Spearheading the East team are San Beda’s Baser Amer and Arthur dela Cruz, San Sebastian’s Bradwyn Guinto and Perpetual Help’s Earl Scottie Thompson, Harold Arboleda and Juneric Baloria while starters for the West are Letran’s Kevin Racal and Mark Cruz, Lyceum’s Joseph Gabayni and St. Benilde’s Mark Romero and Juan Paulo Taha.
