NCCA to fund heritage projects

LUCENA CITY, Quezon: The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), through Public Affairs and Information Office chief Rene Napeñas, encourages all artistically inclined groups and individuals to showcase their talents through a project proposal to be funded by the commission to as much as P2.5-million. Napeñas said indigenous groups like Agta and Manobo were also encouraged to conceptualize programs including workshops and cultural awareness to enlighten the community of their heritage and practices. He added they can provide appropriate assistance to help local cultural heritage such as the Malagonlong Bridge in Tayabas, Quezon be a part of a “cultural hub,” where various activities and events could be held to imbibe to young generations its historical significance. The Malagonlong Bridge is a 100-year old adobe structure in Tayabas reportedly neglected by the local government.
