• NCRPO moves to avert ‘Yuletide’ crimes

‘TIS the season to be extra vigilant against crimes.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday ordered all police units in the metropolis to crack down on robbery and other index crimes especially now that the Yuletide Season is just around the corner.

NCRPO director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr. said besides robbery, index crimes include, theft, murder, homicide, physical injury and rape.

The country is known to have the earliest and longest celebration of the Christmas season, usually beginning the month of September, which is the official start of the so-called ber months.

“Focus on the reduction of index crime in your area of responsibility and ensure that positive result be felt by the public especially now that we are on the ber months,” Garbo said.

He also ordered all police chiefs to closely coordinate with their local government units (LGUs) for their crime prevention efforts.

Garbo also stressed the importance of proper coordination and cooperation between the police and LGUs.

He warned that those who would fail in reducing the index crime in their jurisdiction will be sanctioned accordingly.

“Best performing police stations and personnel will surely be rewarded while disciplinary sanctions will be imposed to non-performing police officers,” Garbo said.
