The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced that it will further tighten its security in all Metro Manila malls following Sunday night’s jewelry heist at SM City North EDSA in Quezon City.
NCRPO Chief Director Carmelo Valmoria said they would meet with mall owners to discuss security improvements.
He said the meeting might take up extra security measures especially with malls expected to be crowded in the next weeks leading to Christmas.
People are expected to flock to malls within the next few days to do their Christmas shopping.
Valmoria said they expect to finetune security measures to prevent a repeat of Sunday night’s heist involving “five to seven” robbers.
He said their initial findings showed the men did not fire a weapon but might have used a hammer and crowbar from inside the mall premises to smash the display case.Valmoria added his office were eyeing to make adjustments to the role of police stationed outside mall premises. PNA
