The executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has filed his resignation for health reasons, the council’s spokesman Major Reynaldo Balido said on Tuesday.
Eduardo del Rosario submitted his resignation to Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin personally on April 24, according to Balido.
“He personally tendered his resignation, citing health concerns, saying his physical condition seemed to have weakened because of the series of calamities [that had hit the country]like the Bohol earthquake and Typhoon Yolanda,” the NDRRMC spokesman said.
Del Rosario was a former commander of the military’s Southern Luzon Command.
He was appointed by President Benigno Aquino 3rd in February 2013 as executive director of the NDRRMC.
His predecessor, Benito Ramos, also resigned because of his wife’s deteriorating health.
