TACLOBAN CITY: Dependents or legal claimants of dead and injured victims of super typhoon Yolanda are advised to coordinate with the local social welfare office of their respective municipalities/cities for the processing of their financial assistance.

In Monday’s coordination meeting of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) here, Office of Civil Defense acting regional director Rey M. Gozon announced that the NDRRMC will provide P10,000 cash assistance to dead victims and P5,000 to those injured.

Dependents of those who perished must bring with them documents to establish their relationship such as live birth and a report of the local disaster risk reduction management council (LDRRMC).

Those who are injured shall secure a medical certificate accompanied by the LDRRMC report.

“We are advising local government units to help their affected constituents comply with the requirements so proper assistance will be provided,” he said.

He said that as early as next week funds can be released already as soon as they have the documents.

As of Monday, deaths recorded in Eastern Visayas alone have been placed at 5,715 while injured victims are at 26,123. Some 1,729 persons are still missing to date. PNA
