CLOSE to 10,000 people have enlisted for the January 19,2014 Run 1000 of convenience store giant, 7 Eleven, from Cavitex to Aseana City in Pasay, the proceeds of which will go to the rebuilding and rehabilitation of areas damaged by super storm Yolanda (Haiyan) last November. Run 1000 coincides with the number of operating stores of 7 Eleven.
Already, 9,764 individuals have registered for the different race categories broken down as: 3k with 1,161 registered runners; 5k with 2,682; 10k with 2,221; 16k with 843 and 21k with 2,857.
The reason the 21k event is drawing a lot of registrants is because the winner in this category will get the chance to compete in the Beijing International Marathon, all expenses paid.
In the Run 800 last year, Janette Agura, the 3rd placer won the second place at the 18th Angkor Wat International Half Marathon in Siem Reap, Cambodia on December 1.
Any person can register online for the race http://www.run711.com/registration and pay at any 7 Eleven stores the registration fees of: P400 for 3k; P500 for 5k; P600 for 10k; P700 for 16k and P800 for the 21k races. No onsite registration will be allowed.
The registration also provides the runners with a race category T-shirt at the beginning and end of the race. The color schemes for the different categories are: 3k red; 5k blue; 10k green; 16k orange and 21k black.
The race is open to any age and any nationality provided that on the race day itself children below 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent. Race kits will not be released without a signed consent form.
Race kits will be available starting January 5, 2014 to be delivered at the store where the registrant paid. To claim the race kits, one needs to present the registration receipt and a valid ID.
Dubbed Run 1,000: Takbo para sa Bagong Simulam, the race promises to be bigger and more existing with lots of fun and perks in store for the participants.
Finishers in all categories will also receive finisher shirts and medals. There will be treats and freebies for all runners, and prizes await the top three for each category.
