THE deadline for submitting bids for building a P50.2 billion modern prison facility in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija, has been extended from August 25 to 1:00 p.m. on November 24, 2016.
The P50.2 billion correctional facility 26,880 inmates and other facilities like staff quart and administrative buildings, rehabilitation areas and high security equipment, is a public-private partnership project (PPP), the first for building prisons.
The private partner will be responsible for funding, detailed design and construction as well as the maintenance of the prison facility.
The decision to extend the deadline came following several delays to the procurement. It was approved by the Pre-qualification, Bids and Awards Committee (PBAC) chairperson, the chief state counsel, Ricardo Paras 3rd.
At the same time, PBAC is also is open for queries and other requests from pre-qualified bidders. This project has three pre-qualified bidders—Mega Structure Consortium, San Miguel Holdings Corp. and DM Consunji Inc.
