ILOILO CITY: Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. will take his oath as chairman of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-6 during the third quarter meeting on Friday in Fort San Pedro.
Maranon, who was appointed by President Benigno Aquino 3rd on September 12, will serve until June 2016.
The RDC-6 comprise of 72 members and four special non-voting members. The regular members include the six provincial governors, two mayors of highly-urbanized cities, 14 mayors of components cities, three mayors of capital towns, six presidents of League of Municipalities, 23 heads of regional line agencies and 18 private sector representatives.
During the third quarter meeting, RDC6 will also launch the Western Visayas-Migration Development Initiative (WV-MDI) Project.
The WV-MDI project, supported by the Swiss Development Cooperation, will be implemented by the United Nations Development Program, Commission on Filipinos Overseas and RDC-6 through the National Economic and Development Authority.
Also supporting the project are the Western Visayas League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators, Signpost Philippines Inc. and the six provinces of Western Visayas.
