BACOLOD CITY: The Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of Negros Occidental recently approved the proposed P50-million peace and order programs for 2018, from which P15 million has been allocated for intelligence gathering, PPOC action officer Ma. Lina Sanogal, said. The resolution also grants Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. the authority to prioritize these projects next year. She added that the PPOC also passed a resolution supporting the proposal of Kapatiran, formerly known as the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB), for the Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA), in connection with the proposed Pamana peace and development community site in Barangay Locotan, Kabankalan City. Under the CBFMA, Kapatiran members will have an opportunity to participate in managing and sustaining the reforestation program of the provincial government. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has hired former RPA-ABB members as forest guards in Negros Occidental.
