BACOLOD CITY: Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo G. Maranon, Jr. recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Miyakonojo Higashi High School in Japan that will pave the way for Negrense students to study and work in the country. Maranon signed the deal with the school chairman Yutaka Shimizu granting scholarships to 10 Negrense senior high school students at Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. Maranon said this is “the first time in the history of Negros Occidental that scholarship grants will be given to senior high school students to study in Japan starting 2018.” Miyakonojo Higashi High School vice chairman Brian Wee said the MOU is a milestone in their efforts to open the door of opportunities to Negrense students.
