NEW YORK: The Brooklyn Nets went the distance—and then some—on Friday (Saturday in Manila) to make sure ex-coach Jason Kidd and the Milwaukee Bucks didn’t get another win at their expense.

Brook Lopez scored 32 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to help the Nets down the Bucks 129-127 in a triple-overtime NBA thriller.

Lopez scored the first five points of the third overtime. He added two rebounds and a blocked shot in the third extra period.

“If you could jump out there and get the lead, I think we got a five-point lead, that was huge in giving us the momentum to finish the game,” Nets coach Lionel Hollins said.

The game was a rematch of a November 19 clash, which also went to a third overtime. In that one the Bucks triumphed in former Nets head coach Kidd’s first return to Brooklyn since he ditched the Nets to take the helm in Milwaukee.

The Nets, who erased a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit, not only gained a measure of revenge, they also kept their slim playoff hopes alive.

The Nets have played six overtime games this season, all coming at home to tie a club record set in 2010-11.
