Filipino-American Treat Huey and British Dominic Inglot whipped Germany’s Tobias Kamke and Florian Mayer, 7-6 (5), 6-4, to advance to the men’s doubles second round of the prestigious 2013 Roland Garros being held in Paris, France.
The seasoned pair of Huey and Inglot combined for a total of 81 points including six aces and six winners. They also won two of six break points during the one-hour, 21-minute match.
Kamke and Mayer, on the other hand, scored just 67 total points, a huge 14-point below Huey and Inglot’s output.
Huey and Inglot will next meet Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan and Mikhail Elgin of Russia, who stunned No. 11 Mexican Santiago Gonzalez and American Scott Lipsky, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Huey and Inglot are looking to surpass their third-round finish in the 2012 edition where they lost to Aisam Qureshi of Pakistan and Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands, 1-6, 4-6.
Huey is also entered in the mixed doubles event. He will play side by side with American Raquel Kops-Jones. They will face Julian Knowle of Austria and Zhang Shuai of China in the first round.
