Junior ace netter Alberto Lim Jr. made it to the quarterfinals of the 2013 Thamrin Cup International Junior Championships boys’ singles being held at the Kemayoran Tennis Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 14-year-old Lim wasted no time in crushing No. 13 Ho Jun Lee of Taiwan, 6-1, 6-1, in the third round of the Grade 4 tournament sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation.

“Alberto’s net game and slice backhand also did a lot of damage to his opponent. We have been working on his volleys and overheads to add a new dimension into his game. I like the positive transformation of Alberto and he is getting stronger as the circuit progresses,” said coach Manny Tecson.

Lim will be facing another Taiwanese player, No. 8 Lin Wei-Den.

On the other hand, Eric Olivarez Jr. battles sixth pick Hei Yin Andrew Li of Hong Kong in the rain-interrupted third round.

In doubles, Lim and Taiwanese Chen Han Yu are just awaiting their second-round opponents – the winner between South Korea’s Shin Chan Hwi and Shin Donghwi, and Malaysian Zu Zinyang Tan and Taiwanese Yun Ruei Wen.

In Halle, Germany, Filipino-American Treat Conrad Huey and British Dominic Inglot soaked up a 6-1, 3-6, 4-10 loss to Daniele Baccialo of Italy and Jonathan Erlich of Israel in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Gerry Weber Open men’s doubles.
