JUNIOR netter Alberto Lim Jr. sets his sights on the Tugu Muda Cup International Junior Championships on Wednesay at the Tennis Complex Manahan in Solo, Indonesia.
The 14-year-old Lim is looking to bounce back from a disappointing exit in the 2013 Thamrin Cup International Junior Championships held in Jakarta last week.
Lim absorbed a heartbreaking 6-3, 5-7, 4-6 to eventual champion Yang Shao-Chi of Taiwan in the semifinals of the Grade 4 tournament.
“From a player who lost in the second round in the qualifying of this tournament last year to a player who reached the semifinals in the main draw, very good transitions indeed for Alberto after one year and a very good start for us in this circuit,” said Manny Tecson.
Lim and Taiwanese partner Chen Han Yu also failed in the doubles play as they succumbed to the No. 7 Indonesian pair of Arief Rahman and Armando Soemarno, 3-6, 3-6.
“I am very satisfied with the way he is holding up physically, mentally and technically against his much older rivals and the improvements of Alberto’s game is simply outstanding compared to last year,” added Tecson.
