• New CAAP officers assume posts

Newly appointed Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) director general Captain Antonio G. Buendia has expressed optimism in making the agency the center of aviation excellence in Southeast Asia. Buendia also appealed to the CAAP personnel to continue to enforce improvements in the agency to ensure safe and green skies. Buendia is the 5th CAAP director general after the aviation regulatory body was signed into law on March 4, 2008 replacing the Air Transportation Office. Along with Buendia, the new CAAP officers are Capt. Jim C. Sydiongco as deputy director general for operations; Capt. Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo, deputy director general for administration; Capt. Donaldo A. Mendoza, assistant director general II, FSIS; Capt. Ma. Aurora Carandang-Gloria, head executive assistant; and Gil M. Macapagal as chief of staff. Buendia’s 43 years of civil aviation experience includes being a former president for both Asian Spirit and later with Philippine Aerospace Development Corp.
