THE Supreme Court (SC) has designated a new Deputy Clerk of Court for the en banc who shall assist in all cases before the 15-man tribunal, including those of Sen. Grace Poe and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, both candidates for President in the May 2016 elections.

The three chairmen of the three divisions of the High Court signed the memorandum appointing lawyer Anna-Li R. Papa-Gombio.

Memorandum Order No 04-2016 was signed by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and Senior Justices Antonio Carpio and Presbitero Velasco Jr.

Sereno is the chairman of the SC First Division, Carpio the Second Division and Velasco the Third Division.

Papa-Gombio is a product of the Ateneo Law School and has been in the Office of the SC en banc Clerk of Court for more than 20 years.

The Deputy Clerk of Court has authority to promulgate resolutions and decisions of the SC en banc in the absence of the Clerk of Court.

The position became vacant on July 14, 2015 after lawyer Felipa Anama was promoted as Clerk of Court of the SC en banc.

Anama succeeded lawyer Enriqueta Vidal who retired last year.
