“Cooking is like falling in love, it involves passion, pride and great pleasure,” are the words of Mövenpick Hotel, Mactan Island, Cebu’s new Executive Chef Christian Bouby. Unsurprisingly, the poetic culinary whiz is a Frenchman.
Inspired by his mother’s and grandmother’s love of French cuisine—he would always help them out in the kitchen—Chef Bouby grew up exposed to well-loved recipes and the importance of fresh ingredients, since his family insisted on never buying precooked food.
He learned more about classic French cuisine when he enrolled in culinary school at age 15. Since then, he has travelled around the globe learning international cuisine from his stints in London, Egypt, Greece, Nigeria and Vietnam to name a few.
“All around the world there are fantastic foods that use fresh, basic and simple ingredients,” the passionate chef said.
“Just like French food, each cuisine is quite sophisticated. It requires long preparation, so different from one state to another, but it gives an incomparable pleasure to discover and taste everything.”
Chef Bouby will lead Mövenpick Hotel’s culinary program by offering new specialties in the hotel restaurants. He will also be responsible for elevating the banquet experience by offering customized menus for parties of any size.
