Matinee idol Dingdong Dantes and ‘Tax Whiz’ Mon Abrea push for tax awareness
WITH the country’s economy on the rise, more business opportunities are opening up for Filipino entrepreneurs nationwide. There are also long-standing establishments that continue to grow, now with a more stable market that they could trust.
However, with these thriving business enterprises also come problems involving finances, especially in the issue of tax. As the Philippines calls for a more transparent and informative government tax-collecting agency, groups from the private sector make sure that tax issues are addressed.
One such is the Center for Strategic Reforms of the Philippines Inc. (CSR Philippines) in partnership with Abrea Consulting Group (ACG) to successfully publish a tax handbook titled Got a Question About Taxes? Ask the Tax Whiz!
With the expertise of former Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) examiner Mon Abrea, who earned the name “Tax Whiz,” he offers his knowledge and financial advice to the most asked questions he has answered throughout his extensive career.
In a book signing and launch held on July 12 at the National Book Store in TriNoma Mall, Abrea enthusiastically shares his answers to the most common yet pressing tax questions from local entrepreneurs.
Abrea serves as chief strategy officer to ACG, the country’s first social enterprise that offers strategic finance and tax advisory services to businesses and professionals. He is also the founding president of CSR Philippines, which is a non-profit organization that seeks to empower the fast growing sector of Filipino micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Supported by actor Dingdong Dantes, who is also YesPinoy Foundation Inc.’s founding president and the new commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission, Abrea’s genuine tax reform advocacy receives a much-needed awareness of the public.
“Knowing is half the battle. With the help of this tax handbook, our most frequently asked tax questions would be answered in one sitting,” Dantes said. He further stressed that he has always been an advocate of “doing what is right” whether it be personal, and especially in professional aspects in life.
He offers game-changing tax strategies to the hundreds of questions that Abrea has encountered as he conducts various seminars and conferences nationwide. He compiled 31 of the most frequently asked tax questions, which many entrepreneurs have found themselves asking as they try to run their business.
For entrepreneurs who do not want to rely on accountants, or for businesses that constantly experience tax compliance problems, having this self-guide handbook can answer simple to complicated tax questions.
