The new Metro Manila police chief plans to update his command’s e-rogues’ gallery by expanding its crime database.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr. took over Saturday as director of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO).
His successor, Leonardo Espina, has been promoted as the new Chief of the Directorial Staff (TCDS).
“We will enhance our crime database, e-rogues gallery, e-warrant and we will make full use of our investigative capability.” Garbo said in a speech.
He vowed to continue the programs and projects begun by Espina, who had pushed for purging the Metro Manila police force of rogues and scalawags.
“I am not here to reinvent the wheel but I am here to see to it that it shall revolve efficiently. I will be expecting your due obedience in time.” Garbo said.
“Our plans should be simple and responsive, measureable, attainable and be realistic to the issues that we have recognized to address,”
Philippine National Police (PNP) Public Information Office (PIO) chief Sr. Supt. Rueben Theodore Sindac said the movements in the ranks of police generals was spurred by the recent retirement of several senior police officials.
Among them were Rommel Heredia, the former TCDS; Director Arnulfo Perez, the former head of Directorate for Logistics and two other two star rank officers.
Other movement in the PNP saw the transfer of former PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., as officer in charge for the Central Visayas Police office. Taking over his post was Sr. Supt. Wilben Mayor.
