New sched for passport processing announced

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday announced a new passport processing schedule starting February 23 as it gradually shifts to an updated system.

In a statement, the department said implementation of the new passport system will only be temporary, and it is carried out “to ensure that the delivery of passport services to the public remains unhampered during the transition period.”

The new schedule will be as follows: DFA-Aseana and satellite offices in SM Megamall, SM Manila, Metro Mall Alabang, Robinson’s Galleria and Ali Mall, regular processing will be 20 working days and express processing will be 10 working days; and Regional Consular Offices, regular processing will be 30 days and express processing will be 20 days.

The DFA assured the public that normal passport releasing schedules will be restored upon the end of the transition period to an improved passport system with enhanced security features that will facilitate every Filipino’s traveling experience and safety.
