Still in the final leg of construction, but already every bit impressive in architecture and interiors, the new Shangri-La The Fort saw its very first event at the equally grand and luxurious launch of the BMW Series 7 in Manila.
Happy to now be part of the new property’s history, Asian Carmakers Corp. president Maricar Parco told The Manila Times in an interview why they chose to hold the Series 7 launch there.
“Shangri-La of course has very similar brand qualities with the BMW so we thought it would be appropriate to hold our event here, thankfully even before they officially open,” she said. “Moreover, Shangri-La The Fort has also chosen BMW to be part of their automobile fleet for the hotel hence the affinity.”
With its polished flooring; arresting interior design, highlighted with works from Filipino artists such as Bea Valdes and Jinggoy Buensuceso, among other local talents; and its grand chandeliers (including visitors’ favorite “singing chandelier” near the Grand Ballroom from award-winning Czech company Lasvit), there is no doubt that Shangri-La The Fort made a lasting first impression on BMW’s guests.
In a separate interview with The Manila Times, Lesley Tan, the hotel’s communications manager, confirmed that the BMW Series 7 launch is officially the first corporate event to be held at their 1,200-capacity Grand Ballroom. She added they took pride in being the choice of venue of the one of the world’s best luxury cars.
Those who attended the highly successful BMW Series 7 launch included its executives Thierry Weidenbach, BMW Group Asia Senior Regional Manager for International Corporate Direct and Special Sales; Hwee Siong Lee, BMW Group Asia Sales Director; Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez, Asian Carmakers CorporationChairman Emeritus; and Laurent Jaegle, BMW Group Asia Product Planning Manager.
Also seen were Charges d’Affaires Michael Hasper of the German Embassy; Honorary Consul for Angola Helen Ong and Atty. Mike Toledo, Philex Mining Corp. senior vice president for Corporate Affairs, among other special guests.
