New warden for PNP custodial center

THE PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame where several some high profile inmates like Senators Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Ramon “Bong” Revilla are detained has a new warden in the person of Sr. Supt. Peter Limbau.

Limbau replaced Sr. Supt. Mario Malana who was relieved from his post on Wednesday.

PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac said an investigation found that Malana neglected his duty when he allowed visitors of detainees to overstay and did not even inform higher authorities about it.

The PNP spokesperson said Malana has been suspended without pay for two months. Malana’s relief came amid reports that some visitors of Estrada extended their stay.

The incident prompted the Headquarters Support Service to adopt stricter policies for guests, visitors and media.

“It’s the [HSS] prerogative to ensure camp security and [traffic]management,” Sindac said.

The PNP spokesman said media outfits will have to indicate in their request the duration of their stay inside Camp Crame.

But communist leaders couple Benito and Wilma Tiamzon claimed that Malana was the sacrificial lamb because the party held at the custodial center over the weekend to celebrate Estrada’s wedding anniversary had the blessings of top police officials.
