ILOILO CITY: The National Food Authority (NFA) has assured that there is still enough supply of rice for Iloilo and Guimaras provinces even if the coming three months are lean months.
NFA Iloilo manager Marianito Bejemino said that the buffer stock for Iloilo and Guimaras, which the NFA Iloilo covers, is good for the next three months — August, September and October.
The NFA official accounted the rice supply at 1.7 million bags stored in the NFA warehouses and in the possession of the traders and in the households.
Bejemino surmised that after three months time there would already be palay harvest in the area to meet the consumption needs of the residents.
Meanwhile, the NFA has increased their accredited rice outlets that would sell the commodity to the public.
The NFA outlets now total to 284 in Iloilo and Guimaras provinces.
These outlets sell NFA rice at a lower price of P27.00 to P32.00 per kilo. PNA
