LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Provincial board members are mulling over the establishment of a grains warehouse, which could contribute to the marketing growth and development integration of the grains industry in the localities.
Board Member Jack Dul nuan authored the resolution seeking the establishment of a warehouse by the National Food Authority (NFA) to be located in Benguet.
The warehouse is expected to lessen expenses or costs incurred by legitimate NFA barangay distributors or accredited NFA Bilihang Bayan Retailers, and pave way for a stable rice supply. With the warehouse’s establishment, people will have better access with lesser transportation cost rather than purchasing from Baguio City, where the nearest NFA warehouse is situated.
Dulnuan added that farmers who trade their produce in Benguet could also purchase the grains as they go back to their respective towns. The measure further stated that the warehouse would sustain the economic needs of the province’s populace as NFA offers reasonable and affordable prices for consumers.
