NFA probes dumped food packs

The National Food Authority (NFA) is conducting investigation into the alleged dumping of relief good packs in Barangay Mac-alang, Dagami, Leyte. A concerned citizen reported to the local police office about 10 to 40 individually packed relief goods placed in 10 sacks with markings of NFA. It said that the packages, in DSWD plastic bags, contain rice, canned goods and imported canned milk and delivered in the area by a truck with red plate believed to be by Leyte Metropolitan Water District (LMWD). The NFA is checking if the rice included in the packs is of NFA or commercial one. NFA Administrator Renan Dalisay said a 3-6-9 months policy for corn, rice, and palay are maintained to ensure that stock inventory is properly handled and distributed to avoid spoilage and efficient consumption of grains.
