NGCP builds transmission lines that can withstand typhoons


LEGAZPI CITY: The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is upgrading and putting up stronger transmission lines to withstand natural disasters, Engr. Frank Deduque, NGCP senior engineer South Luzon project division told The Manila Times. He added that the project is implemented in Bicol because the region is hit by at least 23 typhoons a year. The old power transmission lines in the country could only endure for 185kph but the new power lines can be able to withstand for 270kph strength of winds NGCP officials said.
