Power grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has completed all the restoration works in transmission lines affected by Typhoon Santi in Nueva Ecija.
According to NGCP, normalization of the system came after the restoration of the Cabanatuan-San Isidro 69-kV lines 1 and 2.
However, NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Alabanza said that the completion of the restoration works means cooperatives have already been energized and does not necessarily mean the power in the province is already back.
“The restoration of power depends on the cooperative in the area. For Nueva Ecija, it’s NEECO I and II [Nueva Ecija Electric Cooperative],” she said, adding that power restoration in the province is still speculative, depending on the damage on the facilities.
NGCP, on the other hand, assured the public that it is ready to conduct similar expedited restoration activities to ensure reliable power transmission services.
“The corporation is also continuously taking necessary preparations and precautions to minimize the impact of succeeding disasters on NGCP operations and facilities,” it added.
Meanwhile, Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla confirmed in a text message that the power in the province is already back, except in General Tinio, which will be restored today.
