BALANGA CITY, Bataan: The family of vice governor-elect Enrique “Tet” Garcia in this province have asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to have their patriarch replaced by his niece to ensure continuity of service.
Reelected Gov. Albert Garcia said they filed a petition with the Comelec to have Ma. Cristina “Kris” Garcia replace their ailing father in the position. Kris was the older Garcia’s administrative officer for 17 years in the House of Representatives.
The governor said they expect their cousin to be among them when they take their oath as newly elected officials on June 30 with the Comelec’s approval.
Garcia said his father is confined at the Makati Medical Center. “The replacement will be good for my father and the province,” he said.
The elder Garcia will be replaced by his other son, Congressman-elect Jose Enrique 3rd. He and his four children ran unopposed – the governor, Jose Enrique III, Balanga City Mayor-elect Francis and their sister, reelected Dinalupihan Mayor Gila.
