Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) reports that April sales grew 37 percent year-on-year, a significant increase of 1,181 units versus 861 units in the same period last year.
The increase pushed Nissan up to 5th place among members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) from the 6th slot previously.
Strong sales can be attributed to Nissan’s lineup of new car models, with the CAGI Truck of the Year 2015 Nissan NP300 Navara pickup headlining the sales and adding 33 percent to the total sales in April 2016 the company said. Industry-wide, its sales grew by 179 percent compared with the 30-percent growth posted in the pickup market segment.
Other vehicle models that contributed to NPI’s sales growth include the Nissan NV350 Urvan, the Nissan Juke, the Nissan Almera, and the Nissan X-Trail.
NPI also reported posting a first quarter record growth of 48 percent this year, surpassing the industry performance of over 20 percent in the same period last year.
The company noted how sales have breached the 1,000-units mark for the past 11 months, since June 2015. Factors contributing to the healthy growth trend can be traced to the company’s revved up product line-up, industry awards, as well as improved after-sales service along with the ongoing expansion of the dealership network.
