DAVAO CITY: President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is yet to decide if he will appoint Vice President Leni Robredo to a Cabinet post or not.
“That never entered my mind actually,” Duterte admitted when asked if he has thought of offering Robredo any Cabinet position.
He said he does not know Robredo that much.
“I am not trying to be [a]smart aleck but I am still trying to figure out the selection in my own group and party except the fact that they cannot be employed immediately because of the one-year ban [after losing in the May 9 elections],” Duterte explained.
The mayor said he is more concerned about where to place the people who have been loyal to him.
“I should not be looking beyond my borders yet,” he added.
Duterte was also not keen on meeting with Robredo.
“I would be in an awkward position when I am not ready to offer anything,” he said.
Duterte added that he will leave decisions on the Senate presidency to Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Aquilino Pimentel 3rd.
Senator-elect Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao, he said, has always been a friend.
Duterte on Saturday met with Pacquiao along with Cayetano and his wife, Taguig City (Metro Manila) Mayor Lani Cayetano, Representative-elect Pia Cayetano, Sandra Cam, incoming chief of the Peace Process Jesus Dureza and some businessmen.
