THE Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is not granting an award to the actors behind the famous “Aldub’ love team in the popular noontime TV show, Eat Bulaga.
CBCP president and Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas made the clarification on Wednesday in reaction to erroneous reports that the CBCP is giving out an award.
“It is not so.Neither the Permanent Council of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines nor its arm the Episcopal Commission for Social Communications is involved in this award bestowal,” said Villegas.
The prelate pointed out that it is the Catholic Social Media Summit (CSMS), a project of a lay youth group, that is giving the award.
“While the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines encourages such lay initiatives among so many others, it is not factually accurate to attribute all their initiatives and activities to the CBCP,” Villegas clarified.
Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza of “AlDub Kalyeserye” are among the recipients of the awards during the 4th CSMS in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on October 10 to 11.
The CSMS recognized the famous love team for propagating values.
Mon Bandril of the CSMS’ awards organizing committee said the show deserves recognition because of the “inspiring message” it gives on virtues, values, chivalry, modesty, morality, respect for elders, among others.
“This is the kind [of show]that we don’t see on TV anymore,” Bandril said.
Also receiving the award are comedian Wally Bayola and TAPE Productions, which produces the noontime show Eat Bulaga.
