No more Christmas night market – Estrada

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said night market will not be permitted during the busy Christmas season to keep the city streets free from traffic obstructions. Estrada has ordered the city’s anti-illegal vendor task force to continue its road-clearing operations to give the public a respite from the expected traffic congestion. The night market will be missed along Recto Avenue from Abad Santos to Juan Luna streets, the traditional busy stretch for shopping. But a night market exclusive for vegetable and wet goods vendors will be allowed along Recto Avenue between Juan Luna and Asuncion streets from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Che Borromeo, head of Task Force Manila Cleanup, said clearing operations on the city’s sidewalks and thoroughfares are without let-up according the Estrada’s instructions.
