No freedom from heat


IF you’re planning to go out and check the various outdoor activities organized for Friday’s 117th Independence Day celebration, better take the necessary precautions as weather forecasters expect the heat index to shoot up close to 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the state weather bureau PAGASA, its five-day forecast indicate that the heat index could go as high as 39.9C.

Heat index refers the perceived temperature or how humans feel the actual air temperature and humidity.

Tuguegarao City will be the hottest spot on Friday with the heat index forecast at 39.9C while Metro Manila would likely hit 38.8C
In other areas, the projected heat index are: Laoag City (37.7C), Subic (37.2C), Legazpi City (38.1C). Puerto Princesa City (37.6C), Iloilo/Bacolod City (39C), Cebu (37.8C), Tacloban City (36.4C), Cagayan de Oro City (35.3C), Davao City (36.9C) and Zamboanga City (35.8C)
PAGASA predicts a high heat index of 41C on Saturday and 40.9C on Sunday in Tuguegarao.
