‘No need to expand martial law for now’

A NATIONWIDE declaration of martial law will depend on the political and military situation and actions of the so-called “enemies” of the state like the Islamic State (IS)-linked terror groups and the New People’s Army (NPA), Armed Forces Chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero said on Friday.

At the same time, however, Guerrero downplayed the possibility “for now” since the military’s projections extended only “up to what information we have at hand because based on the information we have at hand, we have to focus in Mindanao.”
