FOR the entire Holy Week, the number coding scheme or the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) will be lifted but only for public utility provincial buses plying roads in the metropolis.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the UVVRP will be lifted starting today until April 21.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the decision was made in consideration of the surge of commuters traveling to the provinces during the Lenten break.
“By suspending the scheme, there will be enough public utility buses to serve the riding public,” Tolentino said.
A surge of vehicles leaving Metro Manila is expected today and tomorrow.
The MMDA also adjusted the schedule of reblocking activities to be conducted by the Department Works and Highways (DPWH) along the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Edsa).
From the original schedule of 10 p.m. today, the reblocking was moved to 2 p.m. tomorrow.
