No surprises in LP event – Salceda

BESIDES the expected endorsement by President Benigno Aquino 3rd of Interior and Local Governments Secretary Mar Roxas 2nd as the administration party’s standard bearer, there are no other “surprises” in the group’s gathering on Friday, according to Albay Rep. Joey Salceda.
In an interview, Salceda said that while the Friday ceremonies provided an opening salvo of sorts for the Liberal Party’s 2016 battle, more explosive developments should be expected next week when party leaders and allied organizations will renew their commitment to continue Aquino’s Tuwid na Daan (straight path).
Salceda also lamented Sen. Grace Poe’s refusal to run under the LP despite efforts exerted by Roxas and Aquino to win her over.
The five meetings aimed at convincing Poe to run under the banner of the LP failed, he said, because each tryst ended with the three leaders just “looking at each other.”
Salceda said he is convinced that Poe will also seek the presidency. JOEL M. SY EGCO
