ILOILO CITY: There is no final taker yet of the central public market project under a joint venture amidst speculations that the project is already awarded to one big conglomeration to undertake the redevelopment of the central market. While the plan is there, there is no final bidder and the interested one, SM Prime Holdings lacks the incorporation papers for it to be endorsed to the Special Bids and Awards Committee (SBAC), Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said recently. It must be recalled that during the “Iloilo Means Business” summit held on March 12, 2014 at Intercontinental Manila, SM Investment Corp. Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jose T. Sio declared unspecified billions of pesos worth of additional investments in Iloilo City in the next three years. The same business summit also netted P31.48 billion investment pledges from seven private investors on top of the P4.1 billion infrastructure pledge from the government’s Department of Public Works and Highways in 2014.
