I ALWAYS pass through EDSA on my way to Muntinlupa and a tarpaulin “No to Armed Struggle” caught my eye.  These words meant so much, and it easily sent the message to everyone, that to fight for a cause should not be done with weapons that kill and maim.  I know that the slogan fosters diplomacy, peace, unity.  It is the voice of the majority who dislikes and abhors violence and terror.  It is the voice and sentiment of all Filipinos to say no to any form of violence with the use of guns and bullets. I hope that slogans such as this be placed in places where it could easily be seen.  Provinces and remote places should also post tarpaulins of “No to armed struggle” especially so because they are prone to NPA attacks and other forms of civil disturbances.  I hope that those concerned, those who continue armed struggle in our society should come to terms with the reality that armed struggle is costly because of many, many lives lost
