As elusive as the National Artist award has been for Philippine Cinema’s superstar Nora Aunor, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has named her one of the Gawad Para sa Sining awardees for 2015.
The Gawad CCP Para sa Sining is the highest award given by the CCP. Nora Villamayor, the Superstar’s real name, will be recognized for Film and Broadcast Arts
Ten other individuals and two organizations will receive the award for their outstanding achievements and contributions to Philippine arts and culture on September 17 at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater).
They are Denisa Reyes for Dance; Fides CuyuganAsensio for Music; Antonio Mabesa for Theater; Roberto Chabet for Visual Arts; Ricardo Lee for Literature;; Paulo Alcazaren for Architecture; Ben Farrales for Design; LeoncioDeriada, Talaandig School of Living Traditions, ArmidaSiguion-Reyna, and Basilio Esteban Villaruz. The Missionary Society of St. Columban will receive the Tanging Parangal.
Aunor is a multi-awarded Filipina actress, singer, and producer. She is regarded as the “Superstar in Philippine Entertainment Industry.”
The Gawad CCP Para sa Sining, which is given every three years, is awarded to artists or groups of artists who have consistently produced outstanding works, enriched the development of their art form.
