Northern Mindanao anti-drug drive shifts to high-profile suspects

CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City: The anti-illegal drug drive in Northern Mindanao is now focused on prominent suspects in the region. Police Supt. Surki Sereñas, regional police spokesman in Northern Mindanao, said the shift followed the implementation of “Project Double Barrel Alpha.” Under the drive, the police launched a region-wide campaign against prominent government, military, police and business people believed involved in the illegal drug trade. The new approach aims to reduce killings and put more emphasis on arresting high-value targets engaged in the drug trade, Sereñas said. He added that the project would also assist in facilitating drug intervention programs as the police work with the community to clear the neighborhood of drug dependents, pushers and suppliers. With “Project Double Barrel Alpha,” police accomplishments in the anti-illegal drug campaign has been reset to “zero accomplishment.”
