Unbelievable. President Noynoy, as it appears to me, is virtually willing to sell his soul to the devil just to get Congress to accede to the secessionist agenda of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and pass the rebel-dictated version of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Noynoy disclosed that an “investigation” is ongoing, following the MILF claim that Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias “Marwan” was “executed” by his own aides who happen to be members of the rebel group.
Isn’t it obvious that the MILF wants to take credit for Marwan’s killing, the same way that Noynoy does but would not own responsibility for the massacre of 44 policemen belonging to the Special Action Force (SAF 44).
The President immediately ordered an investigation and mimicked MILF spokesman Mohaguer Iqbal’s observations that Marwan was shot in the body from behind and not in the legs, suggesting that the terrorist may have been shot by his two escaped bodyguards.
The bright heads in Malacañang saw Iqbal’s theory as an opportunity to absolve the MILF for coddling the bomb maker and discredit the SAF.
Malacañang’s ill-designs implicitly negate the findings of the Philippine National Police Board of Inquiry, the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Department of Justice altogether.
Are they saying that the Senate committee headed by Sen. Grace Poe, as well as the courageous BOI, merely made a fool of themselves such that an “alternative truth” now has to be told?
Noynoy must have forgotten Abe Lincoln’s lines: “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
This is adding insult to the cold-blooded murder of SAF 44, who followed orders from Noynoy and his bosom buddy, then suspended police chief Alan Purisima, who abandoned them while trapped in the terrorists’ lair in MILF-controlled Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25.
This can only aggravate the disgruntled Filipinos, particularly the aggrieved families of SAF 44, who have yet to see the wheels of justice move.
I share Sen. Bongbong Marcos and former-senator Ping Lacson’s observation that Noynoy is “just twisting the truth.”
“The so-called ‘alternative truth’ is beyond our comprehension, coming as it did from no less than the Commander-in-Chief,” Lacson said.
“Palusot lang ‘yan!” Marcos said of Noynoy’s claims.
Entonces, another telling of a lie will yet sabotage efforts to attain lasting peace in Mindanao.
Grace must steer debate on issues.
Any formal announcement Senator Grace Poe would make today, as expected, will set the tone for the campaign for the May 9, 2016 national elections.
The amiable Poe, who was an unwilling prospect for higher office until some demon tried to exploit her “FPJ magic,” now seems set to take the bull by the horn.
After being manipulated and then maligned, the top-rated senator has proven that she herself is blessed with amazing qualities that endeared her to millions of Filipinos.
Whichever way her pronouncement goes, she will clearly continue to serve as a catalyst for a more meaningful presidential contest.
Like Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, I hope Sen. Poe will encourage substantial debate on national issues rather than just character assassination.
