• NPA guns down woman for refusing to be a Masbate rebel organizer

SUSPECTED New People’s Army (NPA) members have gunned down a woman in front of her husband after she refused to become a rebel community organizer in a remote village in Masbate province, police reports said on Saturday. The woman, identified as Meriam Capsa, was on board a motorcycle with her husband and three others heading towards Barangay Poblacion in San Jacinto town in Masbate province when they were waylaid by men armed with automatic rifles and all clad in military uniforms. Ariesto, Meriam’s husband, told investigators that since 2013 NPA rebels had been visiting their house to convince his wife to be one of their community organizers.
