An alleged leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Bicol was arrested in Trece Martirez City, Cavite Wednesday morning.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City (Metro Manila) said Andres Hubilla alias Ka Magno, a member of Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC) and a former secretary of Komi-teng Probinsya ng Sorsogon (KOMPROB Sorsogon) was collared by joint operatives of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) at around 9:05 a.m., in Baranagy Hugo Perez.
Hubilla, the military said, is facing murder and attempted murder charges before the Regional Trial Court of Sorsogon.
Seized from his possession were hand grenades, cellphones and documents “with high intelligence values.”
Col. Cesar Idio, commander of the Army’s 903rd Infantry Brigade said Hubilla’s capture is expected to paralyze the rebel group’s operation in the region.
“The AFP together with the PNP will proficiently work against these threat groups in order to attain the peace that Bicolanos desire,” said Idio.
