NU enters UAAP Jr volley finals


DEFENDING champion National University booked the first slot in the boys championship series with a 19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 win over Far Eastern University-Diliman Tuesday in the UAAP Season 79 high volleyball tournament at the NU Gym.

Holding the homecourt advantage, the top-ranked Bullpups lost the opening set but prevailed in the next three to eliminate the No. 4 Baby Tamaraws.

NU will face the winner of the other Final Four clash between No. 2 University of Santo Tomas and third seed University of the East at 3 p.m. today at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Arena.

The Tiger Cubs need only to beat the Junior Warriors once to advance in the best-of-three title series.

UST guns for the remaining Finals slot in the girls division against De La Salle-Zobel in the first match at 1 p.m.

The second-ranked Junior Tigresses needed only to prevail once against the third seed Junior Lady Spikers to progress in the best-of-three championship round.

Three-peat seeking NU is in the Finals after winning all of its 12 elimination round matches.
