NU eyes ‘5-peat’ as UAAP Cheer Dance Competition opens Saturday

THE Cheer Dance Competition (CDC) of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 will be held this Saturday, with the National University (NU) Pep Squad flirting with history as it tries to go for a “five-peat.”

NU has been champion since 2013 and will be performing first at the Mall of Asia Arena in one of the most anticipated events in the UAAP.

The only other school that achieved a “five-peat” was the University of Santo Tomas, from 2002 to 2006.

The Sampaloc-based squad will be performing first in one of the most anticipated events of the UAAP.

Aside from UST, expected to give NU a fight are the Far

Eastern University (FEU) and the comebacking University of the Philippines (UP), which missed the competition in 2016 amid claims of “biased” judging favoring NU.

The annual cheerdance event will start at 2 p.m.

Below are the competing schools in order of their appearance:

1 – NU Pep Squad
2 – DLSU Animo Squad
3 – Adamson Pep Squad
4 – FEU Cheering Squad
5 – UE Pep Squad
6 – UP Pep Squad
7 – UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe
8 – Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion
