NU retains UAAP cheerdance crown


THE National University Bulldogs Pep Squad retained the crown in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 Cheerdance Competition after beating rivals University of the Philippines (UP) and University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Relying heavily on timing and great flying acrobatic moves, the NU Pep squad scored 677.5 points to win their second straight title and a whoping P340,000 cash prize.

The eight-time UP Pep Squad settled for second with 658 points for a P200,000 runner-up purse.

UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, on the other hand, made it to the podium this time by garnering 625 points, good enough for third place and P140,000 cash prize.

Adamson University finished at fourth with 600 points followed by Far Eastern University (FEU) with 599.5 points, De La Salle University with 557 points, University of the East with 503 and Ateneo De Manila University with 494.5.

In the Group Stunts Competition, FEU won the event with 258.5 points while UST took home first runner-up trophy with 251 points and NU earned the second runner-up citation with 239.5 points.

NU was also the winner of surprising move award which gained them P 40,000.
