• NU, UP, Adamson scramble for Final Four slots

Three teams—National University (NU), University of the Philippines (UP) and Adamson University – will bolster their Final Four bids as the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament resumes today at the Araneta Coliseum.

NU battles University of the East (UE) at 2 p.m. while UP and Adamson collide at 4 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs, Lady Maroons and Lady Falcons are sharing the No. 4 spot with 4-6 each behind defending champion Ateneo de Manila University (11-0), De La Salle University (10-1) and University of Santo Tomas (5-6).

Ateneo and La Salle earlier secured the first two slots in the Final Four leaving UST, NU, UP, Adamson and Far Eastern University (4-7) tussling for the remaining berths in the semifinals.

With 6-foot-4 Jaja Santiago and power-hitting Myla Pablo leading the attack line, the Lady Bulldogs are heavily favored against winless Lady Warriors. They swept UE in their first round meeting, 25-22, 25-11, 25-17.

Holding a 0-10 card, the Lady Warriors, on the other hand, are already out of the Final Four race.

But UE is expected to go all-out as it aims for a graceful exit this season.
Veteran Leuseth Dawis along with Shaya Adorador, Angelica Dacaymat and Roselle Baliton must bring their A-game to stop the Lady Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated second-round encounter of Ateneo and La Salle, originally scheduled on February 22, will be moved to February 18 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The new schedule will feature the NU-Adamson match at 12 noon to be followed by the UP-FEU game at 2 p.m. and the Ateneo-La Salle showdown at 4 p.m.
