A SOON to be established library hub in San Jose West Central School in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija will have Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (Starbooks) among its references that will provide elementary and high school students with various types of advanced reading and learning materials.
Starbooks, developed by the Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII), was the first digital science library in the country, containing information on science, mathematics, and technology in text, audio, and video formats. It does not require Internet connection for access.
“The arrival of Starbooks comes at the perfect time for teachers and students in San Jose City,” she said. “Most of the books and other reference materials in our libraries had been wiped out by recent typhoons. Additional to that, most of the time, we have been experiencing unreliable internet connection, ” Schools Division Superintendent Teresa D. Mababa said during the launching recently.
STII has deployed 792 Starbooks all over the Philippines since 2011. Other information about Starbooks can be coursed through email: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org or at phone numbers 837-2071 to 85.
