SOME areas Nueva Ecija will experience brownout on Friday due to the maintenance work to be conducted by Edong Cold Storage Ice Plant (ECOSIP).
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Wednesday the outage from 8 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. will enable ECOSIP “to facilitate replacement of wood poles inside their compound”.
The Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEECO II-Area 2) shutdown will affect the towns of Sta. Rosa, San Leonardo, Peña–randa, General Tinio and Fort Magsaysay.
Meanwhile, NGCP was placed on red alert after its reserve power for the Visayas grid dropped to zero.
NGCP said the system capacity for the day—at 1,534 megawatts (MW)—was less than the projected peak demand of 1,575 MW.
In Mindanao, the NGCP had a reserve of 32 MW as the system capacity projected at 1,345 MW was greater than the expected peak demand of 1,313 MW. Luzon had an estimated reserve of 1,169 MW, with a system capacity of 8,845 MW and a projected peak demand of 7,676 MW.
